Emerging Athlete Program (EAP)

Athletics ACT (AACT) is excited to again be running the Emerging Athlete Program (EAP) again in 2022/23. This program is a state-based development program which aims to identify and develop the young, emerging, athletic talent in our region.

The ACT Emerging Athlete Program (EAP) will bring together athletes who have showed performance potential at Interclub, State or National level, athletes who have achieved at the ACT Schools competition and athletes from other sports that may show an aptitude to perform strongly as Track & Field athletes.

By identifying and engaging ACT’s best junior athletes and coaches through development and education opportunities, the EAP aims to encourage athletes and coaches to achieve their potential and strive to represent the ACT and Australia at youth, junior and senior levels.
The purpose of the EAP is to:

  •  Be the early identification element of the ACT performance pathway, and;
  • Motivate and improve the best young athletes in each State through coach led training and education sessions by inviting them to be part of a State level development squad.

The ACT EAP program will run from August to September 2022, with extra education information being made available prior to these face-to-face dates.

Through the engagement of coaching experts, the ACT EAP is the early identification element of Athletics ACT’s performance pathway and aims to build upon your current skills and aid in your continued pursuit of success in both sport and life, and works in conjunction with the the Target Talent Program (TTP) which is the state-delivered, Athletics Australia developed junior development program, in our OneAthletics approach to athlete development in the ACT.
