Get involved in Athletics 

Athletics is a sport for all. Whether you are just starting out as a 'Tiny Tot', still breaking Masters records at 85, or somewhere in between, anyone can compete with Capital Athletics. There are also options if you do not wish to compete yourself, but want to coach, officiate, or simply help out your local club! 

Whether you are new to the sport or returning for another season of Athletics action, Capital Athletics offers a range of programs and events for participants of all ages, including:

  • Little Athletics
  • Senior Athletics, including Club Competition, Summer & Winter Athletics Meets, Cross Country and RunACT.
  • Community Engagement & Participation

Little Athletics

Capital Athletics offers the Little Athletics program through Clubs throughout the ACT and surrounding region of NSW, which delivers weekly athletics activities for young people aged 3 to 16 years. Little Athletics is the perfect way to improve your running technique for the AFL and Soccer Season, get a better leap for Netball or start your Green & Gold Athletics journey. 

Registration for Little Athletics Membership opens in August 2024. The Summer Track and Field Season runs from October through to March, with Cross Country and Road Walking events offered during winter at various venues.

Senior Athletics

Senior Athletics with Capital Athletics involves access to Club Competition, Summer & Winter Athletics Meets, Capital Athletics Championship events, Athletics Australia National Championships, Cross Country and RunACT. Some events are dependent on age, more information below:

Community Engagement & Participation

Capital Athletics delivers several community engagement initiatives throughout the Australian Capital Territory and the surrounding region of NSW. These programs focus on increasing participation opportunities for those new to the sport or looking to try a new activity. Capital Athletics works with key sports industry and community stakeholders to roll out athletics programs in the metro, country and regional locations. Working with local community clubs, Capital Athletics is working to ensure that the sport of athletics is inclusive and welcoming to newcomers to the sport both young and old.
