Unification Update 21 December 2022
The Boards of both Little Athletics ACT and Athletics ACT wish to provide our Centres/Clubs and our members with an update of the unification process of Athletics in the ACT.
With the challenges of the 2019/20 Bushfires and the Covid-19 Pandemic now easing both Boards have focussed their attention on the task of unification.
This year has seen significant progress towards unification. On the operational front our first joint Chief Executive has been appointed, our staff structure reviewed, and our office is for the first time functioning in a unified way. Combined with the continued success of our joint events this sees our two organisations well placed to move to the next phase of the unification process.
Progress has also been made behind the scenes towards the next step on our unification journey. From the end of January we will commence sharing a suite of governance documents including Financial Modelling, Draft Constitution, By-Laws, Business Case and Transition Plan. These documents will be available on the Unification page on the Information hub on our website.
We will also be holding regular online and face-to-face forums to provide information about the documents and unification and look forward to obtaining your valuable feedback.
Your feedback will then be reviewed by both Boards and incorporated into the final documentation.
It is our intention to hold Special General Meetings of both Little Athletics ACT and Athletics ACT in early May to vote on the unification and formation of Capital Athletics.
The core intent of unification is to ensure that the sport of Athletics in the ACT and surrounding regions of NSW operates as a single united body providing a better experience for athletes, coaches, officials and administrators. We are always keen to hear your feedback or thoughts about the unification process and the future structure of Capital Athletics. Please feel free to have a chat to one of our Directors at the track, or contact our CEO.
