Tim Christie - President

Tim was elected to the Little Athletics ACT Board in 2022 as the Finance Director.


Tim is currently a consultant to government focussed on improving the delivery of a significant technology program. Tim has 10 years experience providing senior leadership and governance for strategic project delivery and business improvement; with experience across multiple industries.


Tim is a graduate and active member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and a previous board member of Royal Canberra Golf Club.

Barbara Eddowes

Barbara is current director of Athletics ACT and has been an executive committee member of the South-Canberra Tuggeranong Athletics Club since 2017. Barbara has been involved in the sport for many years and has served in many capacities. This includes as an official, Club Administrator, member of the Athletics ACT competition committee and member of Athletics ACT Selection committee of which she is the current Chair. She also did a brief period as records officer for Athletics ACT. In additional, Barbara was a committee member of Tuggeranong Little Athletics Centre from 2009 – 2017 serving as president from 2013 as well as club coach (ATFCA Level 1).

David Boshier 

David was elected to the Little Athletics ACT Board as the Competition and Technical Director in 2021. David has been involved in athletics for many years, starting as a coach at Oxford City Athletics Club in the UK. He continued his involvement when he relocated to Australia where he has coached at Corroboree since 2014 (David holds AA Level 2 Advanced, World Athletics Kids Athletics Coach).

David Joined the Corroboree Athletics Club committee in 2015 and became Vice President in 2020. David is also a qualified technical official and regularly officiates at Little Athletics ACT and Athletics ACT Competitions.

Lyle Dahms

Lyle has worked for the Australian Government for 30 years in mostly financial management, accounting, and investment analysis roles. He is a member of CPA Australia and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector including as chair of the Black Mountain School Board and as treasurer for a variety of community and sporting groups. He has been involved in sport throughout his life as an athlete, coach, official, and volunteer from community participation to national representation. He has been actively involved in athletics in Canberra since his children commenced at Corroboree Athletics over 10 years ago. He remains active in the sport as a Technical Official, coach, and club administrator.

Matthew Watkins

Matt is an experienced executive and authentic leader, working over 28 years as a management consultant with proven experience and results achieved advising at the highest levels of government and the private sector, in Australia and the UK. He brings the Capital Athletics board experience in strategy, governance and performance management, enterprise risk management, digital and data, innovation, and operations. His passion for athletics stems from his and his son's experiences participating as a junior athlete.

Phil Alchin

Phil has extensive involvement in the sport of athletics in a wide range of roles and capacities. For Little Athletics Phil has been a committee member of Woden Little Athletics Club from 2003 to 2015. This includes being President from 2004-2007. Phil also served as a member of the Little Athletics ACT Board from 2007-2015. In 2016 Phil was awarded Life Membership in recognition of his contribution to Little Athletics ACT.
Phil served as President of the Woden Athletics Club from 2016-2023 and on the Athletics ACT Board on two occasions 2015-2017 and again from 2021. Phil is also a Level 3 accredited coach with his own squad of athletes.


Phil spent 32 years working in the Commonwealth Public Service in policy development and Commonwealth/state rela􀆟ons.

Neil Boden

Neil has served continuously as a volunteer in Sport Management and Administration for the past 45 years across a variety of sports in the ACT including touch football, squash, football (soccer), and all 3 levels of athletics - Little A's, Seniors and Masters. Neil spent a most enjoyable 10 years at the Corroboree Little Athletics Centre with his wife, Kerry, and children Lauren and Steven. Neil is passionate about seeing our sport unite, to grow and develop so that our children, and their children, can enjoy this wonderful foundation sport.


In his professional career Neil spent 44 years working in both the state and federal Public Service in the surveying, mapping, and geology industry developing considerable experience and expertise in the areas of project management, financial management, organisational development and corporate governance.

Tara McIntosh

Tara previously was the Marketing and Public Relations Director of Little Athletics ACT. Since her election in 2021, Tara has made a valuable contribution to her portfolio including the primary school challenge, pre-season marketing and arranging radio coverage of our sport. Tara along with other directors from both organisations worked on the Capital Athletics Strategic Framework. Tara is also a member of the Lanyon Little Athletics Centre.


Outside of athletics Tara works in the Commonwealth Public Service in the Digital/Communications space.
